Andy Schor serves as the 52nd Mayor of Lansing, Michigan.

Mayor Schor believes that Lansing’s Time is Now! Under Mayor Schor’s leadership, Lansing has seen billions in new investments all across the city either completed or in progress. Economic development and inclusive growth throughout Lansing remains a priority for Mayor Schor. He was proud to open the new Capital City Market in downtown Lansing, becoming the first grocery store in the area. He has increased access to recreational activities with new parks and has focused on new housing for residents of all incomes that continues to be developed all across the City. Support and resources continue to be prioritized for neighborhoods, as well as social services, including homeless prevention programs and sheltering services for those in need.

During Schor’s tenure, Lansing has been recognized nationally. In 2025, Lansing was named the fastest growing city in Michigan. In 2023, Lansing was rated the best city for work-from-home opportunities by CNBC. Lansing was also named a 2023 eCities Honored Community for its successes and efforts in contributing to Michigan’s growth, and as a community that has seen the strongest growth in business development over the past five years while controlling the costs of doing business. Main Street America announced Downtown Lansing as a 2024 Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA) Semifinalist for its outstanding downtown revitalization efforts, demonstrating exemplary use of the Main Street Approach to lead community-based transformation strategies. AARP Magazine named Lansing one of the best places to live and retire in 2021, and Business Insider placed Lansing in the 30 best American cities to live in after the pandemic. In 2018, Lansing was recognized as the most affordable city to live in the United States by Livability.

Mayor Schor currently serves as Chairman of Michigan’s Urban Core Mayor’s alliance, and as a member of the US Conference of Mayors Advisory Board, one of only 30 mayors in the country. He is Chair of the USCM Council on Metro Economies and the New American City, Vice Chair of the Metro Economies Committee, Vice Chair of the Metro Universities Task Force, and as a member of the USCM Housing Task Force. In addition, Schor serves on the Accelerator for America Advisory Board, Lansing Promise Board, City of Lansing Employees Retirement System Board of Trustees, Police and Fire Retirement System Board of Trustees, and served as an honorary Board Member for Fair and Equal Michigan. He is also a national Co-Chair of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and is a founding member of the national Gun Safety Coalition.

Mayor Andy Schor won his first election as Mayor in November 2017, and was re-elected in both 2021 and 2025. Prior to his election as mayor, Schor served in the Michigan House of Representatives and as an Ingham County Commissioner. Professionally, his work has been focused on good government policy issues, including several years at the Michigan Municipal League, working for the Michigan Insurance Commissioner, and as an aide in the Michigan Legislature.

Andy and his wife, Erin, are proud to call Lansing home. They have two children who are both Lansing Everett High School graduates. Mayor Schor graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and history.
