New York Climate Week 2027: Highlights from Climate Mayors Leadership Forum

New York Climate Week was an opportunity to uplift the work happening in cities across the country into a larger conversation as Climate Mayors gathered at the Historic Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute to trade solutions on energy affordability, resilient housing and the infrastructure our communities depend on.

We didn’t just talk about climate action, we showed what it looks like in practice.

Climate Mayors Executive Director Kate Wright, calls rollback of Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Standards ‘out of touch’ as families are struggling with high gas prices

“This administration continues to be out of touch with the needs of everyday Americans. With gas at nearly $4.50 a gallon, families need every tool we have to cut what they spend getting to work and school. This rollback hands them the opposite: higher fuel bills, dirtier air in our neighborhoods, and a U.S. auto industry falling further behind,” says Wright.

Climate Mayors launches ‘Climate Mayors Economy’ Report, proving that climate and affordability go hand in hand

The Climate Mayors Economy is strong—and its progress is measurable. In partnership with Greenline Insights, this first-of-its-kind study defines the Climate Mayors Economy as the collective GDP and fuel consumption of Climate Mayors member cities. The report finds that Climate Mayors members are growing their economies while reducing fossil fuel use, translating into household savings. Maintaining the pace of progress could save households $38.4 billion over the next decade.
