Created in partnership with Switch 5 and Hazelwood Network, this research explores what residents experience during extreme heat, what prevents them from staying safe, and opportunities for mayors to communicate more clearly on how cities are creating resiliency.

The Climate Mayors Economy is strong—and its progress is measurable. In partnership with Greenline Insights, this first-of-its-kind study defines the Climate Mayors Economy as the collective GDP and fuel consumption of Climate Mayors member cities. The report finds that Climate Mayors members are growing their economies while reducing fossil fuel use, translating into household savings. Maintaining the pace of progress could save households $38.4 billion over the next decade.

Climate Mayors announced the winners of the Climate Mayors Stories of Impact Challenge at their annual Leadership Forum held during New York Climate Week, highlighting how cities across the country are delivering real, tangible climate solutions that lower costs, strengthen communities, and improve quality of life.

As the U.S. federal government continues its retreat from global climate efforts, mayors and governors representing America’s top state- and city-led climate action coalitions — the Climate Mayors and U.S. Climate Alliance — came together today at Climate Week NYC to announce a new joint partnership that supercharges non-federal climate collaboration, demonstrating the strength and durability of American climate leadership.

The slow moving climate talks are struggling to address one of the world’s biggest drivers of rising energy demand.

“I would like to see the issue around data centers elevated in the international arena,” said Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, the outgoing chair of Climate Mayors, an association of 350 climate-forward city leaders. “The U.N. talks are also a really important way to bring together global countries, but in the short term, I suspect other venues will be more impactful.”
